Diwali falls on Sunday, November 8, 2026, and the phone you buy for it will probably cost more than the same phone did a year ago. Counterpoint Research says average smartphone prices in India were up about 15% by the end of June, and Apple now sells the iPhone 17 at ₹99,900, up from its ₹82,900 launch price. We sorted through the brand stores and the festive deals on Amazon and Flipkart to pick 10 phones, from about ₹15,500 to just under ₹1 lakh, that still give you fair value this season.
Why Phones Cost More This Diwali
Memory chips are the cause. AI data centres are buying up memory supply, and The Core reports that memory chip prices are around 4.5 times what they were a year ago. RAM and storage used to make up about 12% of a phone’s bill of materials. They now account for roughly 40-45%. Counterpoint says about 95% of models sold in India were repriced between January and July 2026.
You can see this on price tags:
- The Realme P4x 5G launched at ₹15,999 in December 2025 and was raised to ₹24,999 before the festive sale.
- Apple’s iPhone 17 went from ₹82,900 to ₹99,900, the iPhone 17e from ₹64,900 to ₹79,900, and the iPhone 16 from ₹69,900 to ₹89,900, according to 91mobiles.
- The new iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900, which is ₹30,000 above where the iPhone 17 Pro launched.
Sales volumes are falling too. IDC data shows India’s smartphone shipments dropped 11.1% to 33.2 million units in the first half of 2026, the lowest first half in five years, and sales of phones under about ₹10,000 fell 74% year on year in the second quarter. That is why this list starts at around ₹15,000. Below that price, most phones now cut back on RAM, storage or 5G.
The good news is that festive bank offers, exchange bonuses and brand-store discounts are bigger than usual this year, so a well-timed purchase can bring a phone back near its launch price.

Best Phones Under ₹20,000
1. iQOO Z11 Lite 5G: the cheapest phone worth buying
The iQOO Z11 Lite is the cheapest phone on this list. iQOO’s India store lists the 4GB + 128GB model at ₹19,999. During Amazon’s Great Indian Festival, Digit found it for ₹15,499 once bank offers were applied, well below its ₹19,499 July launch price.
It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 with a 6,500mAh battery and 44W charging, so two days of light use is realistic. You also get a 50MP main camera, a 6.74-inch 120Hz LCD and IP65 splash protection. The low price shows in the 720p screen, the 5MP selfie camera and the single speaker. Buy it for a parent or as a second phone, not for gaming or reels.
2. Samsung Galaxy F70 5G: an AMOLED screen and long updates
Samsung launched the Galaxy F70 5G on October 18. It went on sale on Flipkart at 12 noon on October 20, priced at ₹19,999 for 4GB + 128GB and ₹22,999 for 6GB + 128GB. A launch bank discount brings the starting price to ₹17,999.
Its best features are the 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel with Gorilla Glass Victus and a 50MP main camera with OIS, which is rare at this price. Samsung promises four Android upgrades and five years of security patches. The weak points are the older Exynos 1330 chip, a 90Hz refresh rate and a 5,000mAh battery with only 25W charging. It suits buyers who want One UI, Samsung Wallet and a good screen more than speed.
Best Phones From ₹20,000 to ₹35,000
3. Realme P4x 5G: a 144Hz screen and stereo sound
Even after its price rise, the Realme P4x 5G is a good buy in this range. Flipkart lists the 6GB + 128GB model at ₹22,999, or about ₹21,349 after bank offers, and the 8GB + 128GB version at ₹25,999.
For about ₹5,000 more than the iQOO Z11 Lite, you get a Full HD+ 144Hz LCD, the faster Dimensity 7400 Ultra chip, UFS 3.1 storage and stereo speakers. The 7,000mAh battery charges at 45W, and the phone has IP64 protection and MIL-STD-810H drop-test certification. The 8MP selfie camera is the main weakness.
4. OPPO K14 Plus 5G: an 8,000mAh battery and full water resistance
OPPO launched the K14 Plus on September 29 at ₹29,999. Flipkart now sells the 6GB + 128GB model for ₹25,999 after a ₹4,000 instant bank discount, with six months of no-cost EMI.
OPPO’s spec page lists a 1.5K AMOLED display with up to 144Hz and 3,600 nits peak brightness, the Dimensity 7360 Max chip, and an 8,000mAh battery with 45W SUPERVOOC charging. It is rated IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K, so rain and dust are not a problem. The 50MP main camera has OIS, but the second rear camera is only a 2MP depth sensor and there is no ultra-wide lens. Buy it if screen and battery matter more to you than camera range.
5. POCO X8 Power: a 10,000mAh battery
The POCO X8 Power went on sale on Flipkart on September 11. Its launch prices were ₹35,999 for 8GB + 128GB and ₹38,999 for 8GB + 256GB. In the festive sale they dropped to ₹29,999 and ₹32,999, and bank offers take off up to ₹2,000 more.
The main feature is a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W charging and 27W wired reverse charging, so it can top up your earbuds or another phone. It has a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and an IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K rating, and POCO promises four OS upgrades and six years of security patches. Get the 256GB model. The 128GB version uses slower UFS 2.2 storage, while the 256GB model uses UFS 4.1. At 229g, it is heavy.
Best Phones From ₹35,000 to ₹55,000
6. Redmi Turbo 5: the best all-rounder under ₹40,000
Of all the phones on this list, the Redmi Turbo 5 makes the fewest compromises. It launched in June at ₹37,999 and was listed at ₹41,999 just before the sale. On Amazon, Digit reported it at ₹35,999 with a coupon and bank offers.
Xiaomi’s India page lists the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, which is flagship-class memory at a mid-range price. The 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED reaches 3,500 nits. The 7,540mAh battery charges at 100W, and Xiaomi claims a full charge in about 70 minutes. The 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera has OIS and records 4K at 60fps. Redmi also includes an 8MP ultra-wide and a 20MP selfie camera, an IP68/IP69 rating, and four OS upgrades with six years of security patches. If you play BGMI or edit videos on your phone, this is the one to buy.
7. Google Pixel 10a: the best camera and software for the money
Google’s own store sells the Pixel 10a with 8GB + 256GB at ₹52,999, down from ₹55,999. That ₹3,000 store discount runs from October 11 to November 8, 2026. You can add up to ₹3,000 instant cashback on HDFC Bank or ICICI Bank credit-card EMI, a ₹1,000 exchange bonus through Cashify and up to six months of no-cost EMI.
On paper, the Tensor G4 is slower than the chip in the Redmi Turbo 5. The Pixel’s advantages are its photos (a 48MP main and a 13MP ultra-wide), Google’s call screening and spam tools, an IP68 rating and seven years of OS and security updates. A phone bought this Diwali will still get updates in 2033. Pair it with one of the watches from our best smartwatches to buy in India guide for a complete festive gift.
Best Premium Phones This Diwali
8. Samsung Galaxy S26: a compact flagship at a festive discount
Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 in India in February at ₹87,999 for 12GB + 256GB, with seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. A Samsung-sponsored Smartprix feature from October 19 gives its official price as ₹1,02,999 and lists a festive price of about ₹74,999, or about ₹61,999 with a bank card. That would make it one of the biggest flagship discounts of the season. Confirm the price on Samsung.com or your retailer before you buy.
Samsung India’s store shows a 6.3-inch (15.93cm) screen, a 4,300mAh battery and a redesigned vapour chamber that Samsung says cools 29% better than the S25’s. First-time buyers on Samsung.com get ₹4,000 off. If you want a flagship that fits easily in one hand, buy this one.
9. Google Pixel 11: the strongest Android camera under ₹1 lakh
The Google Store lists the Pixel 11 at ₹89,999. The festive offers apply mainly to the 512GB model: ₹10,000 off from October 11 to November 8, up to ₹7,000 instant cashback on HDFC or ICICI credit-card EMI, and up to ₹9,000 in exchange bonus. Digit calculated that stacking all of them brings the price below ₹70,000.
The Pixel 11 runs on the new Tensor G6 with 12GB of RAM. Unusually for a base model, it has a 10.8MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom alongside the 48MP main and 13MP ultra-wide. The 6.3-inch Actua display reaches 3,000 nits, and Google promises seven years of updates. You get a much better zoom camera than on the Galaxy S26 or iPhone 17.
10. Apple iPhone 17: the iPhone to buy this year
The iPhone 17 is the default pick for iPhone buyers. Apple India lists the 256GB model at ₹99,900 and the 512GB at ₹1,24,900. Apple offers up to ₹7,000 instant cashback on eligible American Express, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards, and no-cost EMI of up to 12 months from October 11 to November 11, 2026. Trade-in values range from ₹4,500 to ₹81,500.
The phone has the A19 chip, a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display, a 48MP dual Fusion camera system and an 18MP Center Stage front camera. Apple has not announced a standard iPhone 18, so the iPhone 17 is still Apple’s current non-Pro model. It is a safe purchase this Diwali. Flipkart teased an iPhone 17 deal “under ₹80,000” in its festive sale, but the exact price and variant were not confirmed, so check it before you buy.
Also launching this week: OPPO Find X10 series
If your budget is well above ₹1 lakh, wait a day. OPPO launches the Find X10 series in India on October 22, and leaks put the prices at ₹1,79,999 for the Find X10 and ₹2,39,999 for the Pro Max. Those prices are not official yet. Our OPPO Find X10 India launch guide covers the expected specs and offers.
How to Get the Lowest Price This Diwali
The listed price is rarely what you end up paying. These steps make the biggest difference:
- Compare the final price, not the discount. A “₹10,000 off” banner on a phone whose price was raised ₹8,000 last month saves you only ₹2,000. Check the launch price in this guide against the final checkout price.
- Match the card to the store. Google Store cashback works with HDFC and ICICI cards, Apple’s with Amex, Axis and ICICI, and Flipkart’s festive offers mostly with Axis and ICICI. Using the wrong card can cost you ₹3,000 to ₹7,000.
- Read the EMI terms. Many “instant cashback” offers apply only to credit-card EMI and need a minimum spend. For example, the Pixel 11 offer needs ₹58,499 and the Pixel 10a offer needs ₹36,399. No-cost EMI can still carry processing fees and GST on the interest component.
- Get a written quote for your old phone first. Exchange values on Cashify or a retailer app depend on condition. Get the quote before checkout so you aren’t surprised when the phone is collected.
- Check the storage type. As the POCO X8 Power shows, the 128GB and 256GB versions of the same phone can use very different storage chips. Spending ₹3,000 more for UFS 4.1 is usually worth it.
- Check the update promise. Seven years of updates (Pixel, Galaxy S26) or four OS upgrades (Redmi, POCO, Galaxy F70) matter more for a phone you plan to keep for four or five years than an extra camera sensor.
- Buy before November 8. Google’s store discounts end on Diwali day, and Apple’s EMI window closes on November 11. Prices often go back up after Diwali.
All 10 phones support 5G, which matters as 5G coverage keeps expanding across India. Our guide to 5G in India 2026 covers coverage and speeds by city. If your budget stretches to around ₹40,000, our earlier list of the best smartphones under ₹40,000 explains which specs matter most in this range.
FAQs
When is Diwali 2026 and when do the phone offers end?
Diwali 2026 is on Sunday, November 8. Google’s festive store discounts on Pixel phones run until 11:59 pm on November 8, and Apple India’s no-cost EMI offer runs until November 11. Amazon and Flipkart offers change by phase, so check the live sale page.
Why are smartphone prices higher in 2026?
Memory chips now cost around 4.5 times what they did a year ago because AI data centres are using up supply. Counterpoint says average phone prices in India rose about 15% by mid-2026, and almost every brand except Apple raised prices on existing models through the year. Apple raised iPhone prices when the iPhone 18 Pro launched in September.
Which is the best phone under ₹20,000 this Diwali?
For the lowest price, buy the iQOO Z11 Lite, which costs about ₹15,499 with Amazon bank offers. If you want an AMOLED screen and Samsung’s software, the Galaxy F70 5G costs ₹17,999 with Flipkart’s launch bank offer. If you can stretch to about ₹21,000, the Realme P4x is the better all-round phone.
Which is the best phone under ₹40,000 for gaming?
The Redmi Turbo 5 is the best choice. It has the Dimensity 8500 Ultra chip, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, a 7,540mAh battery and 100W charging, and Amazon’s festive price was reported at about ₹35,999 with offers. The POCO X8 Power has a bigger battery but a slower chip.
Should I buy the iPhone 17 now or wait for the iPhone 18?
Apple has not announced a standard iPhone 18, and the iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 in India. If you want an iPhone under ₹1 lakh, the iPhone 17 at ₹99,900 (less up to ₹7,000 bank cashback) is the current model. Waiting may not save money while memory prices stay high.
Is the Pixel 10a better than the Redmi Turbo 5?
They suit different buyers. The Redmi Turbo 5 is faster, has a bigger battery and costs less. The Pixel 10a takes more consistent photos and gets seven years of OS and security updates, compared with Redmi’s four OS upgrades and six years of security patches.
Are festive bank offers worth it on EMI?
Usually, if the EMI is truly no-cost and you would use that card anyway. Check for processing fees and GST on the interest component, and make sure the minimum transaction value is met. Otherwise, the instant cashback may not apply.
The Bottom Line
This is the most expensive Diwali for phones in years, but festive offers can still bring several good phones back near their launch prices. For most buyers, the Redmi Turbo 5 at about ₹36,000 is the best value. The Realme P4x and iQOO Z11 Lite are the best choices on a tight budget, and the Pixel 10a is the safe long-term pick in the middle. If you’re spending close to ₹1 lakh, the Pixel 11 has the better camera, while the iPhone 17 suits anyone already using Apple devices. Compare the final checkout price, use the right bank card, and buy before November 8.
